In the midsummer of July, we embarked on a journey amid mountains and rivers. An annual group trip every July has become a heartwarming tradition of Kelu Biology. On workdays, we dedicate ourselves to laboratories, delving into biotechnology research, conducting repeated experiments and tackling challenges side by side amid sophisticated equipment. This summer, the company organized the long-awaited team building activity for all staff. Stepping away from lab benches and busy workstations, we headed for the fairyland resorts of Wangxian Valley and Gexian Village in Shangrao. Over three delightful days in the wilderness, we cast off fatigue, bonded closely amid canyon scenery and ancient-style lanterns, and recharged ourselves for the endeavors in the second half of the year.

At 8 a.m., all colleagues of Kelu gathered at Wuhan Railway Station and took high-speed trains to Shangrao, heading for the secluded Wangxian Valley nestled in mountains. The whole team arrived at Shangrao Railway Station at 12:23, then transferred to chartered buses and checked into light luxury hotels equivalent to Ji Hotel and Lavande Hotel. After settling in, our refreshing summer journey officially began.
At 3 p.m., the group toured the classic loop route of Wangxian Valley without retracing steps. Starting from Qingyun Bridge, we captured stunning panoramic photos of the cliffside homestays. We wandered along Baiwei Street and Workshop Street, tasting local Jiangxi delicacies such as rice waffles and fried dough sticks stuffed with glutinous rice cakes, and watched intangible cultural heritage craftsmen at work. We cooled ourselves off by the Three-tier Waterfall to escape the summer heat, climbed up Baihe Cliff and walked along the high-altitude glass plank road. Standing high above the canyon, we fully immersed ourselves in a fairy-tale atmosphere.

At 5:30 p.m., everyone headed to Lanyue Bridge and Baige Bridge for the best viewing spots, waiting for the arrival of the blue hour. Thousands of lanterns lit up one after another among the rolling mountains, with cliffside dwellings set off against flowing streams, creating picturesque views at every turn. As night fell, the ancient lantern-lit streets glowed brightly. Bonfire parties and Nuo dance performances were staged one after another. Putting aside the rigorous demeanor of scientific research work, we took photos, chatted and laughed together. The gentle night breeze witnessed the pure friendship among team members.

We set off for Gexian Village at 9 a.m., reaching another traditional Chinese-style wonderland after a one-hour drive.
Night Scenery of Gexian Village & Viral NPC Little Yellow Fish
In the daytime, we roamed around Lingbao Immortal Street, Zhongmiao Pavilion and Dust-cleansing Gate. The Tang-style ancient buildings were shrouded in mist, presenting a vivid ancient scroll wherever we looked. Many colleagues dressed in Hanfu and wandered through red corridors and lantern-festooned streets, taking elegant vintage photos. At noon, the team enjoyed a group feast with local specialties including steamed pork with kudzu root and fresh mountain ingredients. We chatted about work and life over delicious meals.

In the afternoon, everyone enjoyed free time with diverse activities. Some took the cableway up Gexian Mountain and hung blessing ribbons, wishing the company steady growth and all the best. Some lingered to admire the sea of clouds among mountains, indulging in the ethereal fairyland scenery. Others visited popular scenic spots and had great fun taking photos with the internet-famous NPC Little Yellow Fish, filled with laughter and joy.

When night came, countless red lanterns decorated Lingbao Immortal Street. The stunning light and water show at Zhongmiao Pavilion unfolded, with mist and light and shadow telling the legend of Lord Ge cultivating immortality. Amid the night breeze, ancient alleys and starry sky, everyone fully relaxed.

On the final day, everyone had ample free time for exploration. Colleagues chose their own routes: some stayed in Gexian Village for in-depth sightseeing; some traveled to Wuyuan Huangling, the ancient village hanging on cliff sides, to admire the layered sun-drying terraces; others visited Sanqing Mountain to marvel at the grotesque granite peaks and rocks, a masterpiece of nature.

All team members assembled at Shangrao Railway Station at 2:30 p.m. and boarded high-speed trains back to Wuhan. The three-day journey among mountains and rivers came to a perfect end. We returned home with local specialties in our luggage and precious memories of companionship in our hearts.

In scientific research, we pursue rigor and truth, and forge ahead together to overcome difficulties. Amid mountains and rivers, we accompany and support one another. This short break is not an end, but a new starting point. Going forward, all staff of Kelu Biology will carry the relaxation and strength gained from this trip, unite as one and forge ahead. With greater enthusiasm, we will keep exploring the biotechnology industry and stride toward a brighter future together.
